RENTAL & FACILITIES – Ice, Meetings and Group Events

Getting together with friends or organizing a business function, make your event the one everyone will be talking about. The Vikingland Curling Club has up to four sheets of curling ice available for group outings on a one-time, special event basis.

Our facilities include a lounge and bar services. This area has a great window view of the ice. Consider us for team building, convention activities, corporate outings and company parties.

What we provide

  • All equipment required to curl.
  • Two hours of ice time (roughly 45 minutes of instruction and 1 hour and 15 minutes of game play).
  • One hour of time in our warm room for socializing.
  • Instructors to help your group understand the basic rules and techniques to play the game.

First 8 participants: $400

$40 for each additional person

We require a deposit of $200 at the time of booking. Bookings are provisional until the deposit is paid.  We accept cash, and checks. Deposits are refundable on bookings cancelled up to 21 days before the date booked. Thereafter deposits are not refundable. The balance is payable before play begins on the date of the booking.

You are welcome to cater your own food for the event. We can recommend some nearby locations.

Insurance liability waivers

Ice is slippery and hard, so we ask that all participants sign insurance waivers before going onto the ice. If a participant does not wish to sign a waiver they will not be allowed to participate in the on-ice part of the event but are welcome to watch from off the ice.

Waivers will be provided by the curling club on the day of the event or in advance if requested. Minors must have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian.

What to expect during the sessions.

There will be a brief off ice instruction including curling terminology. Once on the ice, instructors will go over the basics of curling including throwing a stone and sweeping. Following instruction a game will be played. Participants are urged to wear layered, loose clothing and clean sneakers. All other equipment is provided.

Clothing Dress in layers.  The arena temperature is about 45-50 degrees. You’ll be standing on ice for two hours. If you normally wear a hat outside, you’ll probably want to wear one while curling as well. Clothing should allow freedom of movement.  You need to be able to squat and lunge (blue jeans are not recommended since your movement is restricted). Lightweight gloves keep your hands warm while still allowing you to feel the stone.

Footwear Please bring a pair of clean athletic shoes with soft rubber soles for maximum grip. Avoid shoes with metal on top. If your feet tend to get cold, consider wearing two pairs of socks. The Club will supply any other equipment necessary.

We welcome all curlers, of all abilities; wheelchair curling is a Paralympic sport! Bad knees or back? You can use a delivery stick to throw your rock from a standing position.

No Curling Experience Necessary.
All Equipment Supplied.
Our Season Runs Mid-October through early March.
